Through every interaction in this role, you will support our mission at the Iowa Department of Transportation – Making Lives Better Through Transportation and reflect our core values: Safety First, People Matter, Customer Focused, Servant Leadership, and Integrity Without Exception.Your role as a Service Center Specialist will focus on a variety of tasks, both in the office and on the roadway, and no two days will be the same with rotating duties. You will be tasked with efficient time management and ensuring customer satisfaction by:Issuing driver's licenses and identification documents with accuracy and professionalism.Administering and scoring driving examinations , including motorcycle, car, truck, passenger, and CDL pre-trip, skills, and road tests.Applying expert understanding of driver eligibility, licensing rules, and REAL ID requirements to verify identity and determine qualification.Reviewing state and federal records to determine issuance and non-issuance decisions accurately.Completing vision and hearing screenings to ensure applicants meet safety standards.Capturing customer photos and signatures for official credentials.Serving as a primary point of contact for customer questions and inquiries , delivering excellent service with every interaction.Work ConditionsWhen administering drive tests, you'll be exposed to all weather elements and driving skill levels for an extended period.
