POSITION DESCRIPTION: Affiliate Teaching Faculty for the online branch of the Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy will teach course sections each quarter commensurate with the need of the program and ability of the instructor. Affiliate faculty will likely teach one or more sections in a given quarter, but there are no guarantees for appointment from one quarter to the next. Requirements Primary Responsibilities • Provide high-quality synchronous instruction for online, masters-level Marriage and Family Therapy courses • Infuse integrative systemic theory and practice into course material • Infuse DEI into course material, class discussions and conceptualization • View all course material, including weekly lecture recordings from the online asynchronous platform (about 90 minutes of material) • Building on the asynchronous course material, facilitate synchronous sessions with 15 or fewer students each week in a regularly scheduled 90 minute class. • Follow the course plan established in the syllabus and the LMS, including the suggestions given for the live sessions. • Meet occasionally with the faculty Course Lead to discuss course procedures, program updates, curriculum development, and issues specific to students in your course section. • Grade and return all papers and assignments within two weeks or earlier. • Respond to all correspondence within 48 hours. • Provide additional support and guidance to students as needed. • Submit grades to faculty Course Leads in a timely fashion each quarter. • Abide by MFT@Northwestern policies and procedures. Other Responsibilities • Participate in remediation/retention efforts as needed • Attend occasional required teaching faculty meetings • Maintain ongoing professional activity (i.e., research, scholarship, • presentations, leadership, teaching/supervising, clinical practice, etc.) • Promote MFT Identity Summary of Qualifications Knowledge and Skills: • Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) identity as evidenced by professional affiliations, publications, and licensure; or related field of mental health services • Evidence of ability to teach within the discipline of MFT • Knowledge of or openness to learning about integrative systemic therapy • Cultural competence and strong interest in diversity • Excellent organizational skills • Creativity, innovation, and ability to work independently and within a team • Ability to adapt to new and rapidly changing situations • Strong time management and problem-solving skills • Ability to successfully resolve issues from identification through resolution • Effectively work with multiple databases and student platforms • Skilled at connecting and building rapport with students and faculty Course Lead • Excellent interpersonal skills • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Reliable and consistent access to high-speed internet and computer Minimum Hiring Specifications: • Advanced degree in Marriage and Family Therapy or related discipline (PhD in MFT is preferred) • Two or more years of experience teaching graduate-level courses and/or clinically supervising graduate-level students. • Experience with systemic clinical practice in applicant's areas of expertise • Active clinical licensure in home state, or the ability to gain such Please note that any candidate who is or has a family member/close personal connection to a current TFI client cannot be considered for hiring as this may pose an ethical conflict of interest.
