Shifts may be scheduled Monday - Saturday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.This position requires a flexible schedule to manage any shift across the department and support business needs.Starting wage of $18.00‑$22.00/hour dependent on relevant years of experience.An additional $1.00/hour on Saturday and Sunday shifts worked!Monthly bonus eligibility based on achievement of department goals!Annual merit increase eligibility based on individual job performance.Career Development Pathways Could Look Like:Store Manager‑In‑Training – Assists with directing store operations to train, lead, and manage store team members and learn how to achieve key performance metrics and manage revenue targets.Store Manager – Directs store operations to lead, train, and develop employees, champion service excellence, and achieve key performance indicators and revenue targets in support of funding GCI's mission.District Manager – Oversees multi‑unit store operations management by leading teams to drive operational and service excellence, overall financial performance, loss control activities, customer service, inventory control, and quality standards within their assigned stores.Assistant Director of Retail Operations – Oversees the retail department operations and leaders, championing service excellence, and achieving organizational targets to fund Goodwill's mission.Successful candidates have:6 months of management experience – softlines and hardlines experience preferredOutstanding communication skills for daily employee and customer interactionsA dedication to coaching, leading, and developing othersExceptional problem‑solving abilitiesFlexibility to work positively on a team within Goodwill of Central Iowa's values of treating others with love, kindness, & respectPosition Summary:Our Assistant Store Managers are responsible for managing, training, and coaching store employees. This position assists in managing the store to achieve KPI's (key performance indicators) goals, which are measured and recorded monthly, quarterly and annually with a goal of meeting or exceeding revenue targets to help fund GCI's (Goodwill of Central Iowa) mission of making purposeful employment possible for all. Assistant Store Managers provide excellent customer service to external and internal customers. This position will lead processes such as donation tracking, production and pricing of donated goods, cash balancing, team member performance coaching, safety, and training using various technology and systems.What you'll do here:Assist in managing the team and store processes effectively to meet sales and production goals monthly, quarterly and annually.Train and coach employees using various platforms including in‑person, online, and written processes.Effectively use technology such as Microsoft Office suite, Point of Sales system, Human Resources Information System, cash register operations system, camera system to communicate, monitor, and track store metrics.Analyze expenses, production, and sales to achieve revenue goals to support and fund Goodwill of Central Iowa's mission. Participate in monthly financial calls. Complete regular KPI reports, oversee employee timekeeping, and complete bi‑weekly payroll actions.Regularly provide work performance feedback to employees using GCI's values of love, kindness, and respect.Provide communication within the store through team meetings, one‑on‑one conversations, electronically, and by posting or distributing relevant written materials.Support the Mission department and activities through our round‑up program, promoting Mission activities and programs, supporting Mission goals and employees.Provide excellent customer service and respond effectively and promptly to customer needs.Assist in managing store DGR (donated goods retail) processes of sorting, pricing, and rotating merchandise to achieve production and sales goals.Partner with Store Manager and Safety & Loss Control Specialist to monitor and manage safety processes, regular safety activities, and safety training.Regularly complete and submit reports, perform employee actions within the HRIS, monitor and update timekeeping and payroll data for team members, monitor employee training progress in the LMS, and assist employees in accessing their records and training within our systems.Monitor and assist in maintaining internal and external appearance standards including floor care, store cleanliness, cash register organization, fixture organization, parking lot area, shopping cart store entry, and signage.Perform other duties as assigned.What you'll need:Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.Ability to run cash register, computer, wheeled carts and clothing racks, pallet jacks; potential for forklift operation dependent on work location.Ability to work independently and be flexible; adaptable to change.Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and assign/monitor work.Ability to perform basic math.Basic knowledge of Microsoft office suite including Word, Excel and Outlook.Ability to work under pressure, maintain accuracy and meet deadlines.Must be able to pass a criminal background check and dependent adult and child abuse background check.High school diploma or its equivalent or currently attending high school or GED classes. What You'll Do: As a Facilities Technician, you will perform work order requests and preventive maintenance work orders. You will also assist with special event setups and open and close conference room doors. During the winter months, your assistance is key in assisting the grounds crew with snow removal as needed, including running snow blowers and associated equipment. As a Facilities Technician, you will also perform routine maintenance on, but not limited to, our HVAC, Plumbing and electrical systems, and operate the Fire Alarm, HVAC control and chiller systems. No two days are the same, so a "will-do" attitude is key. Typical hours will be 8:00am - 4:30pm Monday-Friday, but you will be on call 24/7 every 4 weeks (Monday - Sunday) on a call rotation with maintenance crew. There is a possibility for some overtime hours. What It Takes to Join Our Team: High school diploma or equivalent plus HVAC experience preferred. Must have or be willing to achieve a current First Class engineering license. Must have or be willing to achieve BOMA certification (SMT or higher designation). Must keep up-to-date regarding city, state and federal regulations and building codes. Utilize hand tools and simple power tools such as torches, drills, and test equipment. Requires some lifting (75lbs), climbing, grasping, kneeling, and crawling. On Call 24/7. Will be on a weekly on call rotation with maintenance crew. Work from our office in West Des Moines, IA.
