San Luis, AZ 85349 Salary: $45,862.96 Grade: 17 Closing Date: 07/22/2026 Job Summary: Serve as a Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance inspector with duties involving the weighing & complete inspection of commercial type vehicles. Monitor approaching traffic, select commercial vehicles for inspection: operate scale console to weigh commercial vehicles, inspect and test all types of vehicle components and systems, inspect driver's license, log book, documents, and driver's physical condition; determine if they comply with weight, size, load containment/securement, hazardous materials, safety, registration requirements, required equipment; and compliance with the Arizona Title 28 Motor Vehicle Code and other laws, rules, and regulations governing these vehicles, and refer violators to an enforcement officer for action. Provide directions and information to the public and allied agencies; attend briefing and training days and train new personnel to conduct inspections. In-and-out state travel & overnight travel to include Mexico and background check is required. This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures. Job Duties: Translate English to Spanish rules, regulations and laws through reading, writing and verbal instruction and information. Assigned to the Border Liaison Unit performs the issuance of applicable permits, the routing of over-dimensional loads and the collection of appropriate fees and taxes. Take appropriate enforcement action as authorized by state and federal motor vehicle and operator laws, rules and regulations. Leads in conducting inspections on commercial vehicles, communicates with drivers, assess driver's physical condition, inspect log books and other documentation; identify when enforcement action is required and refer the problem to an enforcement officer. Weigh trucks and commercial vehicles with scale equipment, monitoring traffic and selecting commercial vehicles for inspection. Assist Enforcement officers if an emergency arises. Responsible for the issuance of permits, data entry, cash handling and reconciliation; follow established safe working practices; establish and maintain good communication with customers; document inspections, and complete other duties. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge of: - State and Federal Law - Policies and procedures established for the Enforcement and Compliance Division. - Manufacturer's vehicle identification numbers and their confidential locations. - Principles of problem solving along with conflict resolutions. - Cash reconciliation and preparation of daily deposits. - Office machines and computers. - And experience in Federal Motor Carrier regulations, Title 28, ECD Operational Orders. Skills in: - Verbal and written communication skills necessary to provide clear and detailed information in response to a broad variety of requests for information. - Operating fixed and mobile scale equipment. - Conducting vehicle inspections. - Customer service and telephone etiquette for interacting with customers on a constant basis. - Basic math computation to determine, calculate and collect appropriate fees and taxes. - Computer usage and time management reporting. - Organizational and time management to complete tasks in a timely manner independently or in a group setting. - Google Workspace. Ability to: - Perform professional customer service. - Understand and interpret Arizona Revised Statutes. - Resolve technical problems, and answer questions regarding IFTA (International Fuel Tax Association) licensing and IRP (International registration Plan) registrations. - Operate general office equipment, answer phones and draft correspondence in various forms. - Multi-task among various transactions and use of a database to complete transactions. - Obtain Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance ( CVSA ) Level 1 certification; and to maintain Weight Master and Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance ( CVSA ) certification. - Travel out of State and into the Republic of Mexico. - Speak, translate, and read in English and Spanish. Selective Preference(s): 2 years of customer service. Pre-Employment Requirements: + Obtain a US Passport/Sentri within 6 months. + A Valid Driver's License. + A Weigh Master certification and CVSA Level 1 certification is required. The Customer Service Representative provides customer and Territory Managers (TMs) support with the sales of hotel and operational supplies. Primary Responsibilities: Customer & Territory Manager Support: • Answer incoming calls and emails from TMs. Research and provide information such as estimated time of arrival (ETA), customer history data, order tracking, delivery issues, proof of delivery, etc. • Provide customer with order history information (i.e., item #, quantity, etc.) and pricing. • Process orders (including new, cancellation or additions to current order), invoices, credits/returns and respond to customers' inquiries. • Enter and update vendor drop ship orders, including vendor manufacturer ID, cost of goods, color specifications, sizes, etc. • Back Orders – If item is out of stock, check ETA. Problem Resolution • Review and resolve issues with customer orders such as delivery issues, shipment discrepancy and back orders. Review and process Adjustment Request Form or Return Material Authorization following approval. Review any exceptions to Company's standard shipping policies with management. Training • Regularly participate in Sysco Interactive University (SIU), vendor and other company training programs. Communicate regularly with internal Departments : • Accounting – update on orders for Release on Hold. • Purchasing – tracking and proof of delivery, ETA on drop shipments, items discontinued for delivery replacement items Minimum Education, Including Degrees & Certifications: • High School diploma or GED required.
