Job TitleTransportation Maintenance Spec I (Sign Shop Technician)OverviewPerforms entry level work in the fabrication and repair of traffic signs and related work for the Support Services Division in a regional sign shop. Work includes maintaining inventory and records of signs and materials and using specialized tools and equipment related to sign manufacturing. Employees at this level perform assignments following specific instructions and standard practices and are subject to frequent review by the immediate supervisor.Essential DutiesCuts stencils.Draws signs utilizing computer graphics software according to specifications and the sign manual.Moves equipment, tools, materials, and products.Makes sign blanks.Operates letter cutting machine.Performs and maintains inventory of signs.Tests materials to ensure compliance with minimum standards.Reviews sign designs to ensure compliance with the Manual Uniform Traffic Control Devices standards and specifications and approval of the Traffic Safety Division.Issues signs to maintenance sections and district offices.Operates a forklift to move signs and related materials.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Minimum QualificationsEducation: High School Grad or Equivalent in general education.Experience: No Experience required. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent).Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license.
